Clay Deanhardt is an attorney and entrepreneur who has lived and worked in San Francisco and Silicon Valley since graduating from Harvard Law School in 1992.  After working with firms that are now Sidley Austin, LLP and Squire Patton Boggs, Clay moved in-house to work in legal and business roles with technology, communications and Internet companies including Covad (now part of MegaPath), the Santa Barbara Technology Incubator, AT&T and, most recently Elance (now Upwork).

Clay opened his own law practice in 2006 before returning to startup life as the Senior Director of Business Development and Associate General Counsel for Elance (now Upwork), where he helped create and launch the company's Private Talent Cloud service.

Clay's experience includes business development, operations, management, deal making, commercial transactions, IP management, human resources, dispute resolution, company creation and corporate governance.   He serves clients including startups, privately-held technology companies, publicly-traded international enterprises and local small businesses.  His clients, in addition to those above, have included innovative technology, Internet, manufacturing and telecommunications companies such as Trimble, Be My Eyes, Upwork, HintMD, LogLogic (acquired by Tibco), Cbeyond (acquired by Birch Communications), Peanut Labs, Cellotape, Invoca (formerly Ring Revenue) and the California Association of Competitive Telecommunications Companies.

Clay is a proud member of the Rotary Club of Orinda and actively involved in Bay Area civic affairs.  He has advised private company boards and served on the boards of several non-profit organizations.
